Zanu Orlando Fullerton {BSO}
A Coral Springs teenager was arrested after police say he forced his way into a home, assaulted a homeowner, and admitted to setting up a robbery involving masked gunmen.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest affidavit, officers responded to a disturbance call on October 22 at a home near Woodside Drive. When officers arrived, they found two men restraining Zanu Orlando Fullerton, 19, in the backyard.
Investigators learned that earlier in the evening, Fullerton approached a friend outside the home and asked to hang out, smoke, and take photos with his sister’s gun. The victim told police he went inside to retrieve a lighter and the gun while Fullerton waited outside. The two then began taking photos of the firearm in the backyard with Fullerton’s iPhone.
At one point, the victim handed Fullerton a drink, took the gun back, and removed the magazine because he felt suspicious about the situation. Moments later, two unknown men wearing hoodies and masks appeared and pointed pistols at both men, demanding the weapon.
Fullerton handed over the gun, and the two masked suspects ran south on Woodside Drive.
Police say the victim used Fullerton’s phone to call 911 and tried to go back inside the house. Fullerton allegedly attempted to force the door open, chased the victim into a bedroom, and body-slammed him into a hallway closet, which broke the closet doors.
Fullerton allegedly tore the victim’s shorts pocket, taking his phone and the pistol magazine before running toward the back of the residence. The victim and a neighbor managed to tackle and hold Fullerton until police arrived.
During the interview, detectives said Fullerton admitted to setting up the robbery involving the two masked men. Detectives believe he attempted to recover his phone to hide evidence of his role in planning the armed theft.
The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Fullerton was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
Records show CSPD continues to investigate who the masked men were.
