A Coral Springs woman was arrested after calling 911 to report she had stabbed her husband inside their home, court records show.
Hillary Duarte, 43, of 1330 NW 87th Ave., called police on July 5 to say she had committed the stabbing and needed an ambulance sent to their residence.
“I stabbed him, and he is bleeding to death,” Duarte told dispatchers in a 911 recording, according to Coral Springs Police.
Duarte said her husband, who the police did not identify, was “barely breathing” after she stabbed him multiple times, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police rushed to the home and found the man with an apparent stab wound to his upper right abdomen. He was conscious and breathing when authorities took him to Broward Health North’s trauma unit, the affidavit states.
In the home’s kitchen sink, police found a black kitchen filet knife with what appeared to be blood on the tip, records show.
When police arrested Duarte, she was visibly intoxicated and had a non-life-threatening head injury. It was unclear how she was hurt.
She was taken to Broward Health North for treatment, police said.
The injured husband, who was also intoxicated, told police he and his wife of six years had been fighting over their finances before she stabbed him, records show.
Duarte claimed she stabbed her husband only after he pointed a gun at her, according to the affidavit.
She was booked into the Broward Main Jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and released on a $1,000 bond.
