A Coral Springs woman was arrested after police discovered she and her boyfriend were living inside a U-Haul truck reported stolen.
Rachel Keyworth, 22, of Coral Springs, was arrested on December 8 after Coral Springs Police were advised that a stolen U-Haul truck she had rented months earlier in Orlando was in the area.
On December 8, CSPD received a dispatch that the U-Haul truck Keyworth had rented traveled westbound on Wiles Road near State Road 7. Officers spotted the moving truck and performed a routine traffic stop near the 3500 block of North University Drive.
The driver, identified as Keyworth, admitted to officers that she had rented the U-Haul “a couple of months ago” and lived inside it with her boyfriend.
Officers contacted the Orlando U-Haul location where Keyworth originally rented the truck and was told she checked it out on October 6. It was due to be returned on October 25.
On November 11, U-Haul sent a letter to return the vehicle to Keyworth but had not received a response, despite multiple attempts to contact her.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported the truck stolen on December 7. One day later, Keyworth was arrested in Coral Springs and charged with failure to return a hired vehicle.
Officers had the truck towed to U-Haul, and Keyworth was transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where she is on pre-trial release.
