Coral Springs police arrested two suspects that are responsible for carjacking a 57 year old female on September 6, 2012 and robbing a 77 year old female on October 7, 2012.
On September 6, the 57 year old female victim was sitting in her car reading the paper at Coral Square Mall, located at 9469 Atlantic Boulevard when she was approached by a black female holding a gun. The female ordered the victim out of the car. Once the victim exited the car the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
On October 7, the 77 year old female was walking to her car at Coral Square Mall, located at 9469 Atlantic Boulevard when she was approached by a black female. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim and told her to give up her purse or she was going to be shot. The suspect then struck the victim twice in the head with the gun before ripping the victim’s purse from her arm. Once the suspect had the purse she fled the area in a beige vehicle driven by another suspect.
After diligent investigative work from Coral Springs detectives, the suspects were located and arrested at La Quinta Inn located at 3800 Commercial Boulevard, Tamarac.
Shantwanice Chisem, 3/23/93, of Tamarac was arrested and charged with armed robbery, fraudulent use of a credit card, VOP-grand theft motor vehicle and grand theft. Arshantayvia Chinn, 11/05/92, of Tamarac was arrested and charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, petit theft and grand theft. Both list their home address as a La Quinta Inn at 3800 W. Commercial Blvd in Tamarac.
Both suspects were transported to Broward County Main Jail.
