State Representatives Dan Daley of Coral Springs and Christine Hunschofsky of Parkland were automatically reelected Friday after qualifying for office without opposition, according to state election records.
Daley, a Democrat who represents Florida House District 96, and Hunschofsky, a Democrat who represents House District 95, were the only qualified candidates listed in their respective races when qualifying ended.
Because both lawmakers qualified without opposition, their races will not go to voters in November. Florida law treats unopposed candidates as elected once the qualifying period ends.
Daley’s reelection comes less than two weeks after he announced he would not run for the open Senate District 30 seat and would instead seek another term in the Florida House.
The Coral Springs lawmaker had been considering a possible Senate campaign after state Sen. Tina Polsky announced she would not seek reelection.
Before his election to the Florida House in 2019, Daley served as a Coral Springs city commissioner and vice mayor.
Hunschofsky, a former Parkland mayor, was first elected to the Florida House in 2020. She represents House District 95 and is slated to become the next leader of the House Democratic caucus.
As for Polsky’s seat, former Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book is running for that office and will take on Republican Jerusa Zitta in the general election.
