The Coral Springs culinary scene has been on fire, and the temperature is about to get turned up even further with the arrival of one of the nation’s hottest fast-casual chains.
Keen-eyed residents have spotted a new sign going up for Dave’s Hot Chicken, as the wildly popular fast-casual chain known for its fiery Nashville-style hot chicken readies to open doors on its 2558 North University Drive in Royal University Plaza.
In previous media interviews, ownership estimated a fourth-quarter opening – October to December, to be exact – but visible progress suggests the restaurant could be ready for business sooner than expected. The Coral Springs location will be added to the franchise’s 17 Florida locations, including a brand new location in Wynwood and closer footprints in Pompano Beach, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Pembroke Pines, and West Palm Beach.
The impending arrival of one of the nation’s fastest-growing chain restaurants is just the latest addition to the local scene, as Coral Springs has consistently proven to be a preferred landing ground for expansion.
Dave’s Hot Chicken is best known for its bold but straightforward menu, which, of course, is heavy on chicken strips dipped in varying levels of fiery hot sauce, sitting alongside items such as fries, toast, and mac and cheese. Meals can be finished off with over-the-top shakes in flavors such as Oreo, M&M, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Those hoping to feed a crowd can pick up Hot Boxes featuring 10 tenders, 10 sliders, or 40 bites, or even the daring “Reaper Roulette,” which allows customers to take on a box of sliders or tenders mixed with mild and medium pieces, but hiding inside is one made with the blistering Carolina Reaper pepper.
Cauliflower versions are also offered across the board for plant-based diners.
The brand’s story has become part of its legend. Founded in 2017 by three childhood friends in their twenties, Dave’s Hot Chicken began humbly with just $900, a portable fryer, and a few folding tables in a parking lot in East Hollywood.
Today, Dave’s Hot Chicken has grown into an international phenomenon, with locations spanning from Los Angeles to the Middle East. The Coral Springs restaurant will join other Florida locations in bringing the brand’s signature heat, which ranges from “No Spice” to the daring “Reaper” to local fans.
An official grand opening date has not yet been announced. Coral Springs Talk will keep you updated when that news becomes available.
