A Coral Springs man was arrested on February 28 and charged with numerous felony offenses following a series of alleged threats and an apparent drive-by shooting targeting his ex-partner.
According to the affidavit, the man, identified by the Coral Springs Police Department as Shiv Ramtahal, began harassing his ex-fiancee several months ago after the victim, whose identity has been withheld for safety reasons, ended her 13-year relationship with Ramtahal in August 2023. This breakup reportedly led to a series of aggressive and dangerous acts by him.
According to police, on February 23, the victim obtained a temporary restraining order against Ramtahal, which had not been served to him at the time of the subsequent incidents. On February 26, while she was attending a child’s birthday party late until the night at a friend’s house in North Lauderdale, authorities allege that Ramtahal, driving a four-door sedan, conducted a drive-by shooting of the residence shortly after the victim left.
According to the report, the victim told detectives she believed Ramtahal was the perpetrator and intended target.
Records show the shooting incident reportedly occurred between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., not long after she had left the party. Ring video obtained shows Ramtahal arriving at the victim’s house in Coral Springs at 5:02 a.m., where he is seen damaging the doorbell camera.
Following the incident, Ramtahal continued to send threatening messages via Instagram and text. He allegedly expressed intentions to harm the victim and her family members, including a disturbing message stating his willingness to pay for the victim’s murder.
During a sworn testimony at the Coral Springs Police Department, the victim detailed Ramtahal’s affair, substance abuse, and ownership of a handgun. During her interview with police, the victim received a phone call from Ramtahal. On the advice of the officer, she recorded the call.
On the recorded call, Ramtahal initially denied it but eventually admitted to sending the threatening messages and the drive-by shooting. He stated that he knew the victim and her children were not present at the targeted house.
The victim also provided evidence linking Ramtahal to the vehicle used in the shooting, referring to an Instagram post showing the car with a caption that read “My new baby.”
Based on the evidence and the credible threat to the victim’s life, Ramtahal was apprehended on February 28 and is currently being held at Broward County Main Jail with a bond set at $1 million.
