A former Northwest Medical Center ER nurse was accused again of stealing a senior's credit card, this time while working at a Coral Springs doctor’s office.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Dulce Katia Aleman, 51, was arrested Wednesday on multiple felony charges, including fraudulent use of personal identification information involving a victim over the age of 60, illegal use of a credit card, and larceny of a credit card. She was also charged with multiple probation violations.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim discovered that several credit cards were loose at the bottom of her purse, and some were missing from her wallet after attending an appointment on March 2 at the office of Dr. Jason Gajraj in Coral Springs. The victim later reviewed her credit card statement and noticed an unauthorized $103.40 purchase made that same day at a Publix located at 11600 West Sample Road.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage from the Publix, which showed a woman wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt and tan scrubs using the stolen card before leaving in a newer-model Honda SUV.
Police said their investigation revealed the woman in the footage was Aleman, who had been employed as a medical assistant at Dr. Gajraj’s office since 2022. The doctor reportedly identified Aleman from the surveillance images and told investigators he personally knew her.
According to the affidavit, Aleman later admitted that she had used the credit card and then threw it away.
Authorities also noted that Aleman was already on probation for a similar incident that occurred at Northwest Medical Center in 2018. According to court records, Aleman -- then listed as Dulce Katia Castro -- was arrested while working as an emergency room nurse at Northwest Medical Center in Margate. Investigators alleged she stole a credit card belonging to a senior hospital patient and used it to make multiple unauthorized purchases at Walmart.
Aleman was arrested and booked into the Broward County Main Jail.
