A frantic 911 call from a woman with multiple serious injuries led to the arrest of a Coral Springs man charged with domestic assault with bodily harm.
On August 6, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a residence within the Visconti Apartment at 9000 West Atlantic Boulevard after receiving a 911 call that reported a domestic assault with serious injuries.
Upon CSPD’s arrival, a victim was found at the scene being treated by the Coral Springs Fire Department for her injuries.
According to medical reports, the victim sustained severe injuries, including multiple bite marks, one on her breast, and wounds from a hollow broom handle.
The victim also had injuries on her left leg and left arm, wounds she claims resulted from being hit by a golf club.
According to the arrest report, the victim told officers the man, later identified as Gary Pierre, 35, also the father of their 11-month-old child, had bitten, beat, and choked her during an argument. It escalated when she broached the topic of returning to work and hiring a babysitter for their child — expressing her desire not to be a stay-at-home mother anymore.
The victim told officers Pierre became enraged, accusing the victim of wanting to go to work to be with someone else and not wanting to be with him anymore.
The situation escalated further when he allegedly grabbed her, threw her onto the couch, mounted her, struck her in the face with a closed fist, and bit her multiple times, including on one of her breasts.
The victim told officers she screamed during the assault for her 11-year-old daughter to help but that the child and her younger sister had locked themselves in a bedroom out of fear.
As the confrontation escalated, Pierre allegedly continued his assault, using a golf club to strike the victim on her arm and leg. He then reportedly slammed her head into a mounted television screen, shattering the screen.
The altercation continued, with Pierre reportedly using various objects, including a dustpan handle, to strike the victim repeatedly on her thighs. She eventually escaped his grasp and reached the kitchen, where she threw items at Pierre in an attempt to fend him off.
According to the victim, the assault continued throughout the apartment, where at one point, Pierre picked her up, sat her on a bathroom sink, and repeatedly slapped her.
The victim told officers she eventually managed to persuade Pierre to allow her to leave without the children, and he provided her a cell phone to call for a ride and locked her out of the apartment.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene following the victim’s 911 call, arrested Pierre, and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail.
The victim was taken to Broward Health Coral Springs for medical attention for her injuries, which were deemed non-life-threatening. The children present during the altercation were placed in the care of a family member at the victim’s request.
