The Coral Springs Charter softball team opened up their season with a 1-0 win over Palm Beach Gardens as the Panthers aim for a record sixth straight state championship this season.
Brianna Godfrey threw a complete game shutout and had 17 strikeouts, while Bridget Dunham hit an inside-the-park home run for the lone tally of the game to push the Panthers to 1-0 on the season.
“We’re going to play a lot of games like this all year, it looks like,” said Head Coach Mark Montimurro. “Our pitching is phenomenal, so we’re going to have to be creative offensively and play air-tight defense.”
Up next, the Panthers will travel to West Broward on Monday, February 22 at 4 p.m.
