A man was arrested on loitering and prowling charges after a resident of an apartment complex claimed he tried to lure him into the meter room.
On December 4, Coral Springs Police Department officers were dispatched to the Park Place at Turtle Run apartment complex following a call from a concerned resident, reporting a heavy-set black male, later identified as Ajani Elijah Dundas, 26, of Hollywood, had allegedly followed her and attempted to lure her inside the meter room.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Dundas in the dark alleyway adjacent to the meter room, dressed only in his underwear and visibly sweating.
The victim informed the officers that Dundas had approached her, telling her to “come here” and making steps toward her as if he intended to follow. Fearing for her safety, she ran to her apartment, alerted another female in the area about Dundas’s presence, and called the police.
During questioning, Dundas told officers that he was homeless and sought shelter in the meter room. However, he failed to explain why he approached the victim. Officers noted that Dundas had no legitimate reason to be in the enclosed meter room and was not an apartment complex resident.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered that Dundas had a previous run-in with CSPD in 2017, where he was the suspect in an indecent exposure investigation.
Dundas was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
