Congratulations to Sawgrass Springs Middle School science teacher, Judy Bremner for being nominated for the 2015/16 national LifeChanger of the Year award.
Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, the LifeChanger of the Year program recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 public and private school educators and employees across the United States, who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.
About Judy Bremner
Bremner has been an advocate for health and wellness for more than 15 years. When she arrived at Broward County Public Schools, Bremner established a body management course at Sawgrass Springs Middle School to help improve the health of students, especially young girls. She quickly became a leader in student fitness and her model has been replicated in schools across the district. Sawgrass Springs itself saw a 74 percent improvement in the health of the students and staff at the school.
Bremner rallied the community together for a large event benefiting youth empowerment and the fight against obesity. Her commitment to the community goes far beyond planning and executing fundraisers. She has donated gifts to a student whose family was experiencing financial difficulties and paid the electricity bill of another student who used an overdue bill to register for classes. Mrs. Bremner’s desire to help others continues to grow each day and her impacts on others ripple through communities near and far.
Also nominated from Broward County Public Schools was Evy Lenoff, a Bair Middle School guidance counselor.
Each school year, the LifeChanger of the Year program receives hundreds of nominations. This year, a total of 16 winners will be chosen by the selection committee to receive cash awards that are split between the individual winner and their school. The national Grand Prize award is $10,000. The top five winners will also be honored at a national awards ceremony. Winners will be announced in spring 2016.
