A man from Coral Springs faces charges of threatening a public servant following his demand for Coral Springs police officers to meet him in the station's parking lot, where he was loudly playing N.W.A.'s song, "F-ck the Police."
On March 9, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a call from dispatch, which reported that a man, later identified as Daryl Medlock, 55, of Margate, was advising officers to meet him in front of the police station.
According to the report, upon arrival at the parking lot where Medlock was positioned inside his vehicle, officers were met with loud music playing lyrics that were explicitly derogatory towards the police.
The situation escalated when officers approached the vehicle and found Medlock and a female companion. They were informed that they violated Florida state statutes for playing music excessively and for having a tinted tag cover obscuring the car's license plate.
Additionally, Medlock’s car was illegally parked in a handicap spot.
According to police, Medlock's response was highly aggressive, and eventually, he charged one officer, yelling, “Motherf-cker!” The report shows the officer drew his taser in self-defense, and another officer intervened quickly, detaining Medlock before he could reach the officer.
Medlock was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
