A Coral Springs mother called 911 after finding an AK-47-style rifle left on her son’s bed, telling police she feared for her life.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Alex Da Kim Villard, 20, of North Lauderdale, was arrested on May 14 and faces multiple felony firearm charges, including carrying a concealed firearm under the age of 21, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a delinquent adult felon, and carrying a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Records show officers received a frantic call from Villard's mother at a residence near Shadow Wood Boulevard. The mother reported her son had left an AK-47-style rifle on his bed and had recently been acting strangely while using drugs.
The mother expressed fear for her safety and didn't know where Villard was.
When officers arrived, they spotted a vehicle parked outside the residence occupied by several people. Police said an officer approached the vehicle and immediately smelled burnt cannabis while also seeing suspected marijuana in plain view on the dashboard.
Investigators said all three occupants denied having firearms in the vehicle. Villard, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was identified during the encounter, and officers later learned he had a recent firearm-related arrest earlier this year.
During a search, an officer allegedly found a loaded Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun hidden in Villard’s underwear. Police said the firearm was loaded with bullets in the chamber, along with additional magazines.
Police also stated Villard has prior juvenile felony-related adjudications involving firearms and a destructive device on school property dating back to 2023, making him prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under Florida law.
Villard was arrested and transported to the Broward Main Jail. He was later released after posting a $10,500 bond.
