Tasty New York-style hotdogs, meaty Italian subs and wraps, and a dog-centric atmosphere await customers at Coral Springs’ sub shop, Mr. Beefy’s.
Under new management, Mr. Beefy’s Subs and More is now operating seven days a week.
Coral Springs resident Rob Elbaum and owner of Rob’s Bageland always dreamed of owning an Italian beef store.
His dream became a reality in June 2020 when he opened Mr. Beefy’s at 8040 Wiles Road in Coral Springs.
Due to health reasons, Elbaum was forced to retire and pass the baton to long-time friend Tricia Lovett.
Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, Lovett moved to Coral Springs 30 years ago.
“I like Coral Springs because of the closeness of the people, its community-oriented, the schools are wonderful, and our community sports are out of this world,” she said.
Although the restaurant has been under new ownership since September 1, 2022, Lovett said they would continue catering to their customer’s needs.
Mr. Beefy’s Subs and More menu includes a variety of subs, such as Big Dog Super Sub ($11.25), which comes with ham, turkey, and roast beef. The Ultimate Cuban Super Sub ($10.50) comes with pulled pork, ham, pickle, and mustard.
One of the most popular subs is Mr. Beefy’s Super Sub ($11.25), an Italian beef sub with au juice on the side and the inspiration for the restaurant’s name.

They offer hot dogs such as the New Yorker ($7.99), the Mexican ($7.49), and customer favorite, the Chicago ($7.49), a Vienna Dog topped with mustard, onions, tomatoes, pickles, and celery salt on a poppy bun.
The New Yorker was very delicious. The Sabrett Hot Dog, topped with mustard and sauerkraut, provided a nice burst of flavor.
Prefer a wrap? There are eight varieties to choose from, including the tuna salad super wrap ($10.00), grilled chicken caesar super wrap ($11.25), turkey super wrap ($12.50), and veggie super wrap ($8.75).
The grilled chicken caesar super wrap was a pleasant surprise and lived up to the restaurant’s name. It included a good amount of well-seasoned grilled chicken. The crunchy croutons, fresh lettuce, parmesan cheese, and creamy dressing completed it nicely.
For those with a sweet tooth, several desserts are available, including rainbow cookies ($5.99), homemade cookies ($5.00), gluten-free brownies($3.75), and the Carnegie deli cheesecake ($10.00).
The New York Style Carnegie deli cheesecake stayed true to its origin. The dense yet rich in flavor cheesecake was not too sweet to dissuade me from taking another bite. It is a perfect dessert to share with someone and provides a nice hint of vanilla and a crunchy cookie crust.
