Police on Wednesday arrested a man they said fired four bullets into a fourth-story glass window at Broward Health Coral Springs.
Sami A. Qureshi, 46, of 11450 NW 39th St. in Sunrise, allegedly fired the bullets into the hospital at 11:55 a.m. on July 2, according to Coral Springs Police. Surveillance footage showed him leaving the hospital and climbing into a light-colored, four-door sedan before exiting the property, police said.
Police said they developed leads pointing them to Qureshi’s social media videos, in which he “filmed himself shooting at different buildings throughout Broward County,” according to a police press release announcing Qureshi’s arrest.
One of the videos showed Qureshi shooting at the hospital at 3000 Coral Hills Dr., police said.
Sunrise Police arrested Qureshi in a different case on July 5, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and petit theft.
Coral Springs Police detectives interviewed Qureshi about the hospital shooting while Sunrise police were holding him, and he confessed, police said.
Qureshi is charged with one count of shooting into an occupied building and one count of introduction of certain articles, a crime stemming from his bringing a gun onto hospital grounds, police said.
“Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues,” the press release states.
Anyone with information about the shooting incidents is asked to call Coral Springs Police Detective Jeremy Racine at jracine@coralsprings.gov.
