Police need your help identifying a woman seen on surveillance who is responsible for the identity theft of over $20,000 to a Parkland homeowner.
The unknown Hispanic female used personal information such as a social security number and driver’s license number to open credit cards at Macy’s, Best Buy and Sam’s Club in Coral Springs for a total of $8,462.00. Police discovered other fraudulent accounts opened in Boca Raton at a GameStop store and a Saks Fifth Avenue for $7,630.00. Police say that the total of fraud activity associated with the same woman is over $20,000.00.
“I just had a baby five months ago at West Boca Medical Center and I believe my information was stolen from there,” said the victim who had not given out this type of secure information before that. She said that there were two credit checks performed on her account by the hospital: once before she gave birth and after, which she thought was suspicious which makes her believe the person obtained all her personal information from there.
The fraudulent activity happened from July 21 until July 27 and that is when the couple locked their account and called police. It was only recently they have been able to obtain the surveillance.
If you have any information that would lead to the identity of the unknown female please contact Detective Robert Ames of the Coral Springs Police Department Economic Crimes Unit at 954-346-1281 or e-mail address: rames@coralsprings.org
