The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of North Broward will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Coral Springs Sportsplex.
The event will honor cancer survivors, remember those lost, and raise funds for research and patient support.
Now in its 40th year, Relay For Life began in 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt’s 24-hour marathon sparked a global movement. Since then, it has raised $6.8 billion to support the fight against cancer.
“Relay For Life is more than just a walk. It is a volunteer-led movement that unites communities to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and raise funds to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families,” said Event Lead Chris Fletcher, a cancer survivor.
This year’s theme, “Leveling Up For 40 Years – Game Over, Cancer,” will bring together over 50 teams and 1,000 participants. The event will feature a Survivors Lap, a complimentary dinner for survivors and caregivers, and a Luminaria ceremony at sunset to honor those affected by cancer.
“All proceeds raised at our Relay Kids Zone will go directly to Pediatric Cancer Research initiatives,” said Survivor Program Chair Amanda Fletcher.
Relay For Life of North Broward is supported by local sponsors, including Memorial Cancer Institute, Gunther Motor Company, Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, and Phil Smith Kia.
