Runner’s Depot moved from The Shoppes at Heron Lakes to The Walk at 2806 North University Drive in Coral Springs and opened on January 13th.
Renee Grant, president of Runner’s Depot, said she wanted her store to join a more vibrant area of Coral Springs, which The Walk offers.
“We want to grow the running community in Coral Springs and bring a healthier lifestyle to all the residents of this great city,” she said.
Steve Mesiano, the general manager of Grant’s five stores, said The Walk is an ideal place to be. “We are seeing more positive energy and excitement here,” he said.
Runner’s Depot offers very personalized service to runners of all levels. According to Mesiano, before a customer buys a pair of shoes, the individual receives a complete gait analysis and is asked about any pain or issues during running and exercise. The goal is to ensure the customer gets shoes that offer the most comfort.
“We determine if the individual needs more cushion, arch support, or a better pair of socks,” said Mesiano.
Runner’s Depot offers various running shoe brands, including Nike, New Balance, Brooks and others. There are running socks, shirts, shorts, and sandals to wear after a workout.
Most associates are experienced runners who take time to get to know customers and can advise them on footwear, arch supports, clothing, nutrition, hydration, and race preparation.
Mesiano has competed in half-marathons, 10K and 5K runs. After retiring from an information technology job in New Jersey, he wanted to remain active. “I like running, and this was a way I could stay active and work at a job I love,” he said.
Runner’s Depot is a store for competitive runners to collect packets for local races. The store also organizes races in the community and hosts the Coral Springs-Parkland Run Club. The club meets every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the store. During the meetings, athletes run on the streets around the store and then return to socialize.
Mesiano said the store wants to hold a grand opening in late February, but a date has not been set.
