Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has commenced a $72.5 million improvement project to upgrade the interchange at Sawgrass Expressway and Atlantic Boulevard in Coral Springs.
This extensive project, which aims to enhance traffic flow and safety, is expected to continue through early 2026.
The project includes widening the Sawgrass Expressway from six to ten lanes between Commercial Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard (Exit 8), replacing bridges over Atlantic Boulevard to address flooding issues, and reconstructing entrance and exit ramps.
Additional upgrades to Atlantic Boulevard include expanding from two to three lanes in each direction and adding bike lanes between NW 121 Terrace and Lakeview Drive. Other improvements cover stormwater management, lighting, signage, pavement markings, and drainage enhancements.
As part of ongoing construction, the southbound Sawgrass Expressway entrance and exit ramps at Atlantic Boulevard (Exit 8) will be temporarily closed from November 1 at 9 p.m. to November 4 at 5 a.m. Lane closures will otherwise occur mainly during off-peak hours to minimize congestion.
Nearby residents and businesses may experience light, noise, and dust.
