Spitfire Farm Summer Camp
Saddle up, city slickers — Spitfire Farm in Coconut Creek is trotting out two upcoming camps sure to make young horse lovers say “giddy-up.”
Now in its fifth year, the locally loved equestrian haven offers more than just riding. Campers can expect daily rides, hands-on horsemanship lessons, nature walks, arts and crafts, and downtime in a newly added air-conditioned clubhouse — because even cowpokes need a cool break.
The Thanksgiving Break Camp costs $130 a day and runs Nov. 24–26 and Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Winter Camp follows Dec. 23, 26–27, and Dec. 30–31, continuing Jan. 2–3. “Before care” and “aftercare” are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and families with multiple little wranglers can take advantage of a 10 percent sibling discount.
Owners Ejola and Paul Cook bring both brains and brawn to the barn, she’s a corporate attorney and former competitive rider, and he’s an active reservist in the U.S. Air Force. Together they’ve built a 5-acre oasis that’s home to 36 horses, including two new stable stars, Mustang and Berlin.
Camps are limited to 20 students per day to keep the experience hands-on and personal.
“It’s an opportunity to connect with animals and nature in the heart of the city,” said Ejola Cook. “But once you’re here, it feels like you’re miles away — a slice of country tucked inside Coconut Creek.”
Cook said the experience goes far beyond horseback riding. “They learn responsibility, friendship, and teamwork,” she said. “Watching their confidence grow as they partner with a horse is incredible — it’s a barn full of life lessons.”
Located at 4201 Vinkmulder Road, Spitfire Farm offers riding experiences from rescue horses to advanced competitors. It is one of the few local stables where riders can explore Tradewinds Park on horseback.
