A unique store offering crystals and pop culture items opened in Coral Springs in June, with owner Kayleigh Carpenter confident its Tarot card classes continue to be a big draw.
A ‘how to’ class led by tarot reader and spiritual guide Niki La Rosa sold out Sunday, with few spaces remaining for the October 24 class.
Carpenter said the tarot card class is just one event among many to celebrate Corellia Gifts and Goods‘ relocation to a larger retail space.
“I’ve been selling things I create online for seven years and moved to a 700 square foot location not even two months after opening. I also live nearby, so it’s nice to walk to work,” said Carpenter.
A former manager of a Pompano Beach brewery, Carpenter, ran Etsy shops as a side hustle, realizing the kind of Gothic-themed items she made — the type that is a common sight in West Coast pop up stores — could also be lucrative here.
“My friends say I’m like a modern-day Stevie Nicks,” Carpenter laughs, adding since she’s hoping to publish her own books someday, she’s happy to carry other writers’ works as part of her inventory.
The 33-year-old doesn’t carry titles by J.K. Rowling so much as spiritual guides and books by indie authors. As she rolls up her sleeves to work, customers can get a peek at Harry Potter-inspired tattoos.
Corellia Gifts and Goods also sells local artists’ and craftsmen’s creations.
Carpenter said she’s excited to work with her fellow small businesses and the city of Coral Springs to put on a massive small business Saturday initiative eventually.
“I’m huge on community. Our biggest events are our Sip + Shops. They feature local makers and vendors, a crystal raffle, and complimentary sips while people shop,” she said.
Carpenter added the last Sip + Shop on September 25 saw about 500 people come through her doors. It was advertised primarily through the store’s Instagram @Corelliagifts.
“I also have crafty classes scheduled with local makers in the community coming out to showcase their talents and allow others to create,” said Carpenter.
A grand re-opening Halloween party is planned for October 30 from 6 to 11 p.m.
Located at 10269 West Sample Road, the store is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and has weekend hours from 11 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, closing at 3 p.m. Sundays. For more information on in-store events, contact Kayleigh Carpenter.
