The postseason is officially underway in girls’ volleyball with four teams fighting for a District Title.
Coral Springs Charter went 15-7 during the regular season and qualified for the Big-8 Tournament featuring the top eight teams in Broward County. Despite losing in the first round, the Panthers won 15 matches during the regular season and earned the three seed in the postseason.
CSC began the week with a 25-23, 25-23, 25-13 win over FAU High School, with Samantha McMillan leading the team with 11 kills. Keisha Julot and Hailey McMillan each had five, while Kaila White added four. Syndi Wilson added three blocks with Kailey Michaelson having eights find and Olivia Greco and Isabella Nilsson combined for 29 assists.
The Panthers then lost to Saint Andrews School 25-20, 25-16, 25-16 despite eight kills from Hailey McMillan. Nillson and Sam McMillan each had six digs while Greco recorded 12 assists.
Coral Springs High School won five matches during the regular season, following victories over South Plantation, Stranahan, Piper, Hallandale, and Coral Glades to earn the five seed in the postseason. They played Fort Lauderdale High School and lost 25-23,25-14, 25-18 with seniors Zaaiei Ehrke, Ana Cordero, Jasmin Caraballo, Mya Inoa, Stacey Luce, Kayhila Carmon, and Christi Alonso competing for the final time.
J.P. Taravella went 11-8 during the regular season and finished the year off red hot with four wins in their final five matches. That earned them a four seed in the District Tournament and set them up against Monarch High School in the opening round which featured them winning 16-25, 25-22, 25-12, 19-25, 15-9.
However, they would fall in the Semifinals to Marjory Stoneman Douglas 25-4, 25-13, 25-13. Reshayne Elliot, Taijah Taylor, Makayla Smith, Taylor Maffet, Victoria Salcedo, and Camille Camper,
Coral Glades beat Fort Lauderdale, J.P. Taravella, Stranhan, Hallandale, and Coral Springs High School this season and was seeded seventh and faced Boca Raton Community High School. The Jaguars dropped the match 25-16, 25-11, 25-16 and finished the season 5-11 with their senior class of Maya Ramos, Crystal Carreras, and Kelsie Reid playing in their final match.
