A woman was arrested for domestic battery after assaulting her fiance while he was driving, then fleeing in the car.
On December 2, Coral Springs Police responded to the 8700 block of West Sample Road about a possible domestic disturbance after a caller reported his fiancee had assaulted him and taken the car he was driving.
The victim told police he had picked up his fiancee, Robyn Riley, 34, from a friend’s residence where she had been drinking. Riley was reportedly angry and irate that he picked her up.
While he was driving, the verbal dispute escalated, and he told police Riley struck him and threw a drink at him, which broke his glasses and caused an injury to his neck. He stopped the vehicle, and Riley kicked him and forced him out of the car.
Once he was outside of the car, Riley hopped into the driver’s seat and left the scene. The report stated Riley is a co-owner of the vehicle.
Not long after the victim spoke to police and gave a description of the vehicle, officers located Riley driving near the 3100 block of University Drive and performed a routine traffic stop.
She was removed from the vehicle and informed there was a domestic battery investigation underway. The officer indicated in his report that a liquid substance was all over the interior of the car, consistent with the victims’ story that a drink had been thrown. Riley refused to give officers a statement.
Officers photographed the victims’ injuries and placed Riley under arrest. She was transported to Broward Health for medical clearance, then taken to the Broward County Main Jail.
