10 Athletes from Coral Springs Selected for BCAA Basketball All-Star Game

After a great season of high school basketball in Coral Springs, ten players from Coral Springs High School, Coral Springs Charter, Coral Glades, Coral Springs Charter, J.P. Taravella had an opportunity to compete in the Broward County Athletic Association All-Star Game on Thursday.

Players from Coral Springs, Coral Springs Charter, and Coral Glades played in the North vs. South game, while J.P. Taravella competed in the North-Central vs. South-Central right after Northeast High School.

For the Colts, Jordan Carmona, Jonathan Fils, and Allen Mathieu were selected for Team North. CSHS won their fifth District Championship in school history this past season and reached Regionals after going 16-11. Between these three players, they combined to score 27.4 points per game.

“These kids are family forever, and we know they will make us proud with their future endeavors,” said Coach Devin Barta. “They will be missed. However, our younger players will strive to follow the great example these seniors were for them.”

Stephanie Orozco competed for the North Team and scored five points in the game for the girls. She also averaged 11 points per game and has a GPA of 4.3. Orozco already has an offer to play college basketball at North Country Community College in New York.

The Jaguars had a pair of players compete in Bryan Etienne and Brandon Elrod. Etienne led the team with 17.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Elrod went for 8.4 points per game and brought down five rebounds, helping the Jaguars win six games in 2021.

Viciana Paucarima represented the Coral Glades for the girls. She recorded nearly ten points a night while the Jaguars went 11-11 this year. Her teammates were Kat Martinez from the Coral Springs Charter girls basketball team. The Panthers won ten of 18 games this past season.

James Dixson played for JPT and finished the season in double figures scoring 13.4. Danielle Tigner played for the girl’s team and averaged 7. 6 points per game.
