Michael Mocco wins Regional Championship. {JPT Wrestling}

Michael Mocco (Coral Springs Charter) and Marco Flores (Coral Springs High School) are on their way to the State Championship following a strong run in Regionals.
After winning five tournaments this year and coming in second in Districts, Mocco finished first in Regionals, defeating the reigning state runner-up from 2021.
Head Coach Eric Perez credits Mocco for his composure under pressure.
“He was behind on points late in the match, and instead of getting flustered, he went to work, got his escape, and got his own takedown,” said Coach Perez. “Most kids would have gotten disheartened, but that’s what makes Michael so special.”
Flores came in fourth place and was able to qualify after placing first in Districts and the Cypress Bay Tournament.
Both wrestlers compete in States starting on Thursday, March 3, at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee.
