Broward County Public Schools has announced the golden and silver award-winning schools for the 2018/2019 school year and several Coral Springs schools made the grade.
Of the 76 district schools that earned awards, 12 are located in Coral Springs. Presented annually by the Florida Department of Education, they recognize exemplary volunteer programs at schools, which promote parent and community engagement in education.
The elementary schools that received golden awards were recognized for many years: Ramblewood Elementary and Westchester Elementary for 39 years; Maplewood Elementary for 37; Park Springs Elementary for 29; Eagle Ridge Elementary for 22; Riverside Elementary for 20; and Parkside Elementary School for 17.
Middle schools that received golden awards were Coral Springs Middle for 26 years; Forest Glen Middle for 26; Ramblewood Middle for 25; and Westglades Middle School for three years.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in its 20th year as a golden award winner, was the only high school in Coral Springs and Parkland areas to be recognized.
