In a thrilling game between Coral Springs High School and Deerfield Beach, the Colts pulled off an exciting 2-1 win in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the District Championship.
Regulation ended with the game tied at one and after neither school scored in overtime. The game went to penalty kicks, where the Colts won 4-3.
With the win, Coral Springs will be moving on to play Monarch High School in the next round on Tuesday, February 4, at 6 p.m. Those teams faced off earlier this season with Monarch getting the better of Coral Springs 6-0.
However, the Colts have played their best soccer of the season, winning their last three games. Before that, they had an 8-1 win over Piper High School and are currently 7-7-2 on the season.
Though they will be underdogs the rest of the way, they are only a year removed from their District Title last season as the Colts have shown they can win these types of games.
If they can beat Monarch, they will face the winner of Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Coral Glades in the District Finals on Thursday, January 6, at 5 p.m.
