Doherty, who won four state championships in all four years of high school, hit her home run in the bottom of the third inning to give the Knights a 10-0 lead.
She was no stranger to home runs in high school as she had 21 in her high school career and hit to a .441 batting average.
After being in and out of the lineup through the first few games of the season, Doherty leads the team in hitting at .500 and is tied for fourth on the team in RBI’s in only 16 at-bats.
She has played third base most of the season and will hope to continue her excellent start to the season as UCF attempts to enter the top-25 rankings nearly three weeks into the season.
