Holy Cross Hospital of Fort Lauderdale has named Coral Springs resident Christine Walker as Director of the Year.
Walker serves as the director of marketing and public relations at the nonprofit hospital.
The Director of the Year Award is presented to a staff member who demonstrates dedication each day to the mission of Holy Cross and its core values. After joining the Holy Cross team in 1999, Walker quickly became an invaluable member of the hospital’s community, exemplifying excellence in all aspects of her work and commitment to the organization.
“Christine is our one-woman marketing team who is extremely passionate and committed to our ministry,” said Doug Strong, interim president and CEO of Holy Cross. “Her knowledge of the complex healthcare industry, marketing, and public relations expertise and her passion and commitment to Holy Cross makes Christine an outstanding choice for Director of the Year.”
Known for working late nights and weekends, Walker has been a model of consistency, hard work, and excellence, efficiently juggling her variety of responsibilities along with a steady stream of special requests with grace and professionalism. She proudly represents Holy Cross Hospital to the community, physicians, and associates.
Walker is also a Holy Cross Legacy Leader. She participated in the Legacy Institute, a program at the hospital that encourages personal reflection and the integration of the hospital’s mission and core values into everyday life, personally and professionally.
The Legacy Institute develops and nurtures the spirituality of associates and educates and informs them of what it means to be part of a Catholic healthcare ministry. Legacy Leaders carry out the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy, founders of Holy Cross.
A Coral Springs resident, Walker lives in The Preserve at Coral Square with her daughter, Aja Moncrieffe, 17, who graduated Top 10 percent of her class at J.P. Taravella, and will be attending UCF in the fall on several scholarships.
Walker was honored in 2019 as an Inspirational Women of Broward County by the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. She is a graduate of the University of Florida and a former reporter for the Sun-Sentinel.
