The J.P. Taravella High School football team has been looking for that first win this season, and they were finally able to get it over Cypress Bay High School on Thursday night.
It came in a Bowl Game for the Trojans as they were able to pull out an impressive 21-17 over a very talented high school. Despite JPT coming in without a win in their first four games, head coach Charles Hafley Jr. relied on many of his younger players to earn a victory,
“We were able to get some of the younger guys some experience,” said Hafley Jr., “All our seniors said how they wanted to go out as winners, and tonight was a great leading point to winning. Our younger guys will take on that fire onto the offseason, and we look forward to a bright future in 2021.”
While senior quarterback Dylan Garcia has had a strong year, sophomore quarterback Keith Bullard stepped up big Thursday night with a pair of touchdowns to receiver Mike Vicinanza.
Gary Dieureslil, Javon Hanse, and Damien Pierre led the defense, but Hafley Jr. gives his entire team credit for the victory. They are hoping to have one final game next week to close out the season.
