Gavin Gargiulo of Coral Springs Charter Baseball Commits to Play at UCF

Gavin Gargiulo is only a sophomore on the Coral Springs Charter baseball team but is already committed to playing in college at the University of Central Florida.

“Being able to know that I have a chance to play baseball after high school is a dream come true,” said Gavin. “It’s something every kid dreams of, and I am grateful for the opportunity I will partake in two years.”

He’s following a similar path to his father, Jim, who played college baseball at the University of Miami and was drafted by the Chicago White Sox.

Gavin began playing baseball at three years old and has been on the varsity baseball team since he was a freshman. In 59 at-bats, he hit third ten and recorded a save in four appearances as a freshman.

This year, he is already 3-0 after picking up wins against Somerset Canyons, West Broward, and Deerfield Beach High School. He has struck out nine in 7.1 innings, helping CSC hold the top spot in the District.

“I am so proud of Gavin and all the hard work he has put in,” said Head Coach Charlie Fine. “It’s been a pleasure seeing him develop through our program, and he has truly earned this opportunity with a great baseball program.”

While Gavin still has more than two years left on the varsity baseball team, he says his decision to commit to UCF came down to the coaching staff and the atmosphere. He’s also excited to play locally, where his parents can come to watch.

UCF is currently 11-4 this year and has won 131 games since 2017. The Knights have been to 12 NCAA tournaments, five regular-season championships, and six first-place finishes in the Conference Tournament.
