An accused armed robber was arrested this week for allegedly using a chain and padlock to smash a man over his head at the Mullins Park Veterans Pavilion in Coral Springs, then stealing his belongings, court records show.
Cedric Tolbert, 34, of Coral Springs, allegedly carried out the March 14 robbery at the pavilion, located at 2521 Coral Springs Dr., targeting a man he suspected was in contact with his girlfriend, according to an arrest affidavit.
Tolbert struck the man multiple times with the chain and padlock before stealing his cell phone and Gucci slides, according to police.
After the attack, the robber allegedly forced the victim to walk to a nearby Marathon gas station, striking him several more times as they walked, records show. At the gas station, the victim saw an opportunity to get help, went inside, and asked the cashier to call the police, the affidavit states.
Paramedics treated the bloodied victim’s head wounds on the scene. He declined transportation to the hospital, police said.

Tolbert is charged with robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was held on a $10,000 bond Friday at the Broward Main Jail.
