On Monday night, the Coral Glades baseball team kept their season alive with a tight 6-4 win over Deerfield Beach High School.
“I’m very proud of my kids for coming back against a very good pitcher that Deerfield threw,” said Head Coach Joe Franco. “We didn’t play well defensively, but we fought through the adversity and came out on top.”
In three innings, Andrew Allison made his first career playoff start and allowed no earned runs, while Angelo Smith recorded the win. Despite trailing 1-0, Coral Glades scored four unanswered runs before Deerfield Beach tied the game. Josh Howitt recorded the game-winning hit in the sixth and came around to score on an error to make it 6-4.
The Jaguars improved their record to 12-8 and will face Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the District Semifinals on Tuesday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. The Eagles are the top seed this year with a record of 23-2. In their last meeting on April 20, they beat the Jaguars 12-2.
