Coral Glades baseball head coach Joe Franco picked up a memorable win against Santaluces High School Wednesday night.
Not only was it career win number 200, but he also picked it up against his brother Nick. It was also the Jaguars’ 11th win in 18 games this season.
Through his 16 years of being a head coach, he has met many great people and takes pride in doing things the right way.
“I want to thank all of the players and coaches from my Monarch teams to my Coral Glades teams that helped me achieve this milestone,” said Franco. “Without them, it wouldn’t be possible. I want to thank my brother, Nick, for being a great mentor, and I know he’s happy for me.”
The Jaguars only had five hits but picked up RBIs from Andrew Allison and Jordan Archer. Ashton Singpradith recorded two hits and scored a run along with Angelo Smith and Allison.
Smith pitched 5.1 innings and allowed one run on two hits on the mound. He also struck out nine before Emanuel Sohit picked up the final five outs.
Next, Coral Glades will play their final regular-season game against University High School on Thursday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m.
Following that, the Jaguars will compete in the District Tournament as the four seed against Deerfield Beach High School. The winner of that game will play Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the Semifinals.
