With the postseason coming up, Coral Springs High School held Senior Night for girls basketball and boys soccer on Friday.
Girls Basketball
The girls basketball team closed out an exciting week of games with Senior Night. It started on Tuesday with the Lady Colts defeating Everglades High School 57-49. CSHS then took on Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and despite the Eagles winning back-to-back games, the Lady Colts picked up a 79-19 win. They defeated Coral Glades 76-17 on Senior Night, honoring Shameka Mapp, Cynthia Pierre-Louis, Jourdin Gayle, and Carissa Marthy.
“They are a great group of young ladies that I am lucky to have this is by far the best season we’ve had since I became coach,” said Head Coach Brendon Hankerson. “Cynthia, Jourdin, Clarissa, and Shemek, thank you for working hard and helping change the culture of Coral Springs High girls basketball.”
The Colts also picked up their 16th win of the season, the most they have had in over 20 years. They will play their final regular season game on Monday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. against McArthur High School.
Boys Soccer
In a high-scoring game, CSHS boys soccer picked up a 5-3 win over Pompano Beach High School. The Colts honored Micheal Neville, Christopher Baigorria, Matais Zapata, Erick Perez, Mahmoud Kaddouh, Sebastian Guzman, Logan Black, Dominic Siffrain, Anderson Pierre, Carlos Leal, Anthony Gonzalez, Kyrie Pittman-Osborne, Camden Hulse and Joshua Belfort.
The Colts now head into the Distinct playoff with a record of 7-7. They will await to see who they will take on in the tournament, which will begin later this month.
