High School Students May Register to Vote Without Leaving School

Students who will be 18-years-old on or before election day, will have an opportunity to register to vote in their high school’s media center or auditorium, during the Annual High School Voter Registration Drive. The registration drive is the result of a partnership between Broward County Public Schools and the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office (Broward SOE).

In addition, high school students who are 16-years-old may pre-register to vote during the drive. Those students will receive their voter information card in the mail when they turn 18.

In March, staff from the Broward SOE will be distributing, verifying and collecting completed voter registration forms at Broward’s high schools. Students and teachers may be present to observe and assist with the process, but they are not permitted to register students.

If students have their driver’s license and/or Social Security card, they should present that identification when they register. However, if they do not have those forms of identification, they may still register. Broward SOE will verify the eligibility of those students.
