Coral Springs Police arrested a man following an alleged road rage incident in which a person was hospitalized after being struck in the face with a Yeti thermos.
According to CSPD records, the incident on November 18 began on West Sample Road near Northwest 110th Avenue.
According to police reports, the victims attempted to pass a pickup truck after its exhaust emitted thick black smoke into their vehicle. The driver, later identified as Hythalo Gonzalez, 31, of Coral Springs, reportedly accelerated to block them, then lowered his window and shouted threats, including, “Do you want to die?” before throwing the thermos into the victims’ vehicle.
Medical records show the thermos struck the passenger in the face, causing a laceration that later required medical attention. Upon arrival, Coral Springs EMS treated the injured passenger at the scene, and he later sought follow-up care at Broward Health Coral Springs, where he received x-rays.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect driver as Gonzalez.
On November 20, Gonzalez was taken into custody and arrested on charges of firing a missile or projectile into an occupied dwelling, as well as multiple probation violations.
