Sonic Drive-In was ordered to close temporarily following a health inspection that revealed four violations, including live flying insects in the restaurant’s kitchen and food preparation areas.
Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors reported during an inspection on November 18 that Sonic, located at 6200 West Sample Road, had small flying insects on shelving used for clean utensils near the triple sink across from the ice cream machines.
Additional violations included insects on the lemonade machine, soda cup lids at the soda machine station, and shelving used for clean storage containers near the cook line.
Inspectors noted in the report that flying insects in these areas were deemed a significant health risk, resulting in the immediate closure of the restaurant.
Sonic Drive-In was ordered to remain closed until the violations are addressed and the location passes a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
