Coral Springs Police have arrested a car burglary crew suspected of breaking into 29 vehicles in the city, authorities said Friday.
The first 13 smashed-window vehicle burglaries happened on March 23 across two Coral Springs neighborhoods.
The police department’s Burglary Enforcement and Reduction Unit ran down leads in the break-ins and identified a car whose occupants were believed to be responsible for the crimes, along with multiple auto burglaries across Broward County, department officials said.
City police worked with the Broward Sheriff’s Office BAT (Burglary Apprehension Team) and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department‘s Gun Intelligence Unit to stop the crew.
The same suspects struck again in Fort Lauderdale on March 23, police said.
Police said that around 2 a.m. Wednesday, the crew of four car burglary suspects returned to Coral Springs and committed an additional 16 vehicle burglaries.
Authorities tracked down the car full of accused burglars and stopped it using a Grappler Police Bumper in North Lauderdale, police said.
Four suspects were in police custody Friday and charges against them were pending, according to the department.
The names of the accused car thieves were not immediately made public.
