Coral Springs to Vote on Park Makeover and New Public Art Installation

Coral Springs officials plan to transform one of the city’s longstanding parks.
During the May 21 City Commission meeting, members will vote on the proposed enhancement of Pride Promoters Park, a project aimed at revitalizing public space and supporting the city’s ongoing commitment to aesthetics, safety, and community engagement.
Originally constructed in the early 1990s, Pride Promoters Park at 4391 Riverside Drive is now slated to receive upgrades as part of Coral Springs’ comprehensive public art and aesthetics plan. The renovation includes a modern, inclusive playground, a refurbished basketball court featuring an ADA-compliant hoop and net, and new outdoor fitness equipment designed to promote healthy living across all age groups.
A highlight of the project is the proposed installation of a new bronze sculpture titled Wild Connections by internationally acclaimed artists Gillie and Marc.
Approved by the city’s Public Art Committee, the artwork will depict five native Florida animals seated together on a bench—a symbol of the region’s rich natural beauty and a tool for sparking curiosity and interaction. Residents will be invited to participate in naming the animals through a public poll.
The overall enhancement project is budgeted at approximately $345,000, with $225,000 allocated from the federally funded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

If approved, the sculpture will be financed separately through the city's Public Art Fund, which is supported by developer fees tied to new construction and renovations.
