The J.P. Taravella High School girls’ wrestling team has a district champion.
Arheanna Bryan (190 pounds), one of the top female wrestlers in Florida, won a district championship at South Broward High School on February 11. She was the only female wrestler from Taravella in the competition, according to coach Michael Bazos.
On February 21, Bryan will compete in the regional championship meet at South Dade Senior High School. “She will be facing some tough competition there, but I believe she can do well,” said Bazos.
The Taravella boys’ wrestling team will compete in the district championship meet at Coral Springs High School on February 18. Leading wrestlers for the Trojans include Caden Ankele (144 pounds) and Amir Salmeem (175 pounds), according to Bazos.
