A man on the run from a prior burglary was arrested in Coral Springs after attempting to break into an occupied residence and fleeing from police.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Joshua Alexander Corker, 31, of Kissimmee, was captured on March 30 following a brief search.
Police say officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at an apartment near Northwest 89th Drive. Investigators allege that Corker attempted to enter the residence through a window. A Coral Springs Police Department volunteer reportedly alerted officers that the suspect was actively trying to gain entry. When officers arrived, they observed the attempted break-in and issued multiple commands for Corker to stop.
According to police, Corker fled on foot after noticing officers. Following a brief chase, officers took him into custody near the 2300 block of Northwest 89th Drive.
Authorities also noted that Corker had been a suspect in a nearby retail theft investigation prior to the incident.
Following his arrest, Corker was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs for treatment of an unrelated illness. He was later cleared and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
