Thomas Joseph Dinapoli {BSO}
A man accused of stealing hundreds of dollars’ worth of meat from a Coral Springs Publix was arrested after police say he fled capture across the street to a Sonic Drive-In, damaged a cash register, and attempted to hide inside the restaurant’s kitchen area.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, on June 18, officers responded to the Publix at 6270 West Sample Road after receiving reports that a man, later identified as Thomas Joseph Dinapoli, 57, of Davie, allegedly selected meat products valued at $358.43 and left the store without paying.
Police said Dinapoli ran from the store when confronted by officers and crossed to the nearby Sonic Drive-In at 6200 West Sample Road. Investigators said he entered the restaurant, broke a cash register, and then hid in an employee-only area in an attempt to hide from police.
During the arrest, a search allegedly uncovered a glass pipe containing cocaine residue.
Dinapoli was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
