Coral Springs area student-athletes were well represented in conference honors this spring, with standout performances.
Coral Springs High School was led by Olivia Higgins, who earned First Team recognition in the 800 meters following her state championship performance. Samantha Bandres Chourio earned Second Team honors in the 400 hurdles and was also a key member of the 1600-meter relay team alongside Lydia Gentilhomme, Destinee Cole, Higgins, Clara Romelus, and Nasiha Fleury, all of whom also received Honorable Mention recognition.
In field events, Benjamin Joseph was named Second Team in the triple jump, while Dwalthon Charity earned Second Team honors in the shot put. On the baseball field, Ryan Guthrie and Aiden Roy were recognized after helping Coral Springs reach the regional playoffs with a 15-9 record. Guthrie led the offense with a .446 batting average, adding a home run, 18 RBIs, and 10 doubles. Roy anchored the pitching staff, going 7-3 with a 0.99 ERA. Dallas Searcy and Natron Wheeler were Honorable Mentions. Tennis players Sophia Rodriguez and Zara Villa from the girls’ team, along with Justin Beauregard and Joseph Mullins from the boys’ team, were Honorable Mentions. Daziano Barrett-Daly was recognized from the boys’ volleyball team.
In boys track and field, J.P. Taravella’s Joshua Reneau, Scardy Fils, Jahree Pierre, and Ali Mustafa earned Second Team honors in the 3200-meter relay, while Reneau also received Honorable Mention recognition individually.
The girls track and field team saw Patricia Costa receive First Team recognition in the 100 hurdles after winning the Won Louie Bing Invitational, BCAA, and the regional en route to a third-place finish at State. Olivia Noel earned Second Team honors in the long jump, while Samira Belizaire, Rachelle Languedoc, Timya Johnson, Jocelyn Hart, Trayna Standley, Caileen Canales, and Valentina Castillo all received Honorable Mention recognition.
Jeremiah McFarlane was named to the second team in baseball after hitting .400 with 11 RBIs and two doubles. His team won 11 games as he knocked in 11 runs and recorded two doubles, and Jake Miller and Julian Classen were each honorable mentions. Miller batted .322 with a home run and 123 RBIs, while Classen hit. 381. He also drove in four runs and had a quarter of his hits go for extra bases.
In boys volleyball, Wildy Charles, Sangheet Viathelli, Alexander Chaves, Dylan Parker and Cole Fisher were named Honorable Mentions as the Trojans finished 10-7, including a playoff win over Piper High School.
Coral Glades also had multiple athletes honored, highlighted by three college signees earning Second Team recognition: Cameron Marques, Haleigh Thomas, and Addison Schwartzberg. Marques hit .385 with 13 RBIs and eight extra-base hits, while Thomas posted a 2.29 ERA. Schwartzberg finished with a 2.90 ERA. Brianna Escobar is also signed and was chosen as an Honorable Mention.
Enzo Hernandez was named to the second team after hitting .324 with four home runs. Jason Lincoln earned Honorable Mention despite missing time due to injury. The sophomore still hit .313 with nine RBIs, while also going 2-0 on the mound with a 1.24 ERA in three appearances. Zack Krey was also recognized after homering and driving in 11 runs along with Delfin Gonzalez. In girls lacrosse, Kennesaw State signee Allura Buelvas earned Honorable Mention along with Anne Butterfield, Gianna Gonzalez, Miranda Infante and Nissie Cadette, as well as Mauricio Leja from the boys team.
In flag football, Madison Watts earned Third Team recognition following a six-win season, finishing with eight receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Noel Thomas and Delaney Gordon were also Honorable Mentions for the girls.
