Coral Glades is a school on the rise in every sport and has seen success, along with a commitment from the softball team.
The boys’ soccer team is 5-1 this year and recently won their last game 3-2 against Pembroke Pines Charter. Jaden Lloyd and Santiago Sanzhez had a goal and two assists, while Jaden Lloyd and Demario Lawrence each scored one.
The Jaguars beat Somerset Academy, South Plantation, Flanagan, and Cooper City High School, outscoring their opponents 19-1 in those wins.
Lloyd currently leads the team in goals with 10, while Sanchez and Eli Samuels have combined for five. Coral Glades has had eight different players score at least one goal this year, with Aj Greenfield shining in net.
The girls’ soccer team has also been successful, recording two wins this year. They came against David Posnack Jewish Day and Charles W. Flanagan High School. The Jaguars scored three goals in those victories and have scored eight goals this season.
Next, both teams will play South Broward High School on Tuesday, December 9, starting with the girls at 5 p.m. and the boys at 7 p.m.
The boys’ basketball team is 3-2 this year, but lost its last game to Pembroke Pines Charter 77-65. However, they previously beat Pine Ridge High School 69-57 and also have wins over East Coweta, Luella, and Luella High School.
Kyler Theopile, a Kennesaw State commit, has only played in one game this year, but scored 18 points while Jamari Bolden and Gavin Reed are each averaging over 16.5 points per game.
The girls’ basketball team is 1-2, recording its first win against Boyd H. Anderson High School 51-48. They previously lost to West Boca Raton and Spanish River Community High School. Next, both teams will play Marjory Stoneman Douglas, starting with the girls at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
The cheerleading team finished in second place at the District Championship in the large non-tumbling division while the softball team has its third senior officially commit to play in college, with Cameron Marques heading to St. Thomas University in Miami. She joins Haleigh Thomas, who will be playing at Lynn University, while Addison Schwartzberg is committed to St. Thomas.
Marques has played three years on the varsity team at Coral Glades and has had a terrific run offensively. She is hitting .338, including a year ago when she batted over .400. That season featured her first home run, while she also drove in 14 runs and had 26 RBIs in three seasons, as the team won 32 games and reached regionals every year. Maqrues will join a talented team that won 33 games a season ago, more than doubling their win goals from the year prior.
