Coral Glades High School hosted the Regional Cheerleading Championship, with three teams advancing to the State Championship.
The Coral Glades Cheerleading team finished third in the extra-large non-tumbling division. The Jaguars competed against Coral Springs Charter, Cardinal Gibbons, Miami Central, Archbishop Mcarthy Wellignton, Monsignor Pace, Blanche Ely, and Fort Lauderdale. Coral Glades came in second at the second at BCAA Championship and third at state last year.
The Coral Springs Charter cheerleading team also competed in the extra-large non-tumbling division and came in fourth. They will head back to State after finishing fourth last year.
The Coral Springs High School cheerleading team placed third in the small non-tumbling division. They faced off against Dwyer, Forest Hill, Benjamin, Northeast, Avant Grande, Miarmar, West Broward, South Broward, Chaminade Maddona, West Boca Raton, Key West, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas. The Colts previously came in second place this year at the BCAA Championship and also placed 11th at State last year.
The J.P. Taravella cheerleading team competed in the medium non-tumbling division but did not advance to states. The Trojans, who won Districts last year, competed against Somerset College Prep, Mater Bay Academy, Boyd H Anderson, Nova, Miami Northwestern, Plantation, Miami Carol City, Stranahan, Morningside, Charles W. Flanagan, Keys Gates, Downtown Doral, and South Fork High School. The State Championship is set to begin on Friday, Jan. 31, in Lakeland.
Next, Coral Glades, Coral Springs Charter, and Coral Springs High School will compete at the State Championship beginning on January 31 in Lakeland.
