Coral Springs continues its success in cheerleading, with two teams finishing second at the BCAA Championship on Saturday while soccer and wrestling teams competed against each other.
Coral Glades came in second place in the Extra-Large Non-Tumbling Division.
“I am beyond proud of my girls and their performance on Saturday at the BCAA Championship,” Head Coach Alison Madej said. “Our cheer was on point, and we achieved a perfect score.”
The Coral Springs High School team also finished second in the Small Non-Tumbling Division.
“I am very proud of their performance, and this team has something special that I can’t wait to see them continue the fight at FHSAA Regional,” Head Coach Amanda Mortimer said.
Despite not placing in the top 2, Coral Springs Charter and J.P. Taravella competed and will get set for Regionals, which will be held on January 25 at Coral Glades High School.
In soccer, the J.P. Taravella boys soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over Coral Springs High School for their second victory of the year. Lucas Vasquez scored the only goal for the Colts, who fell to 8-4-1 this year.
The J.P. Taravella girls soccer team also won, recording a 2-0 win over Coral Springs High School. Damari Sibbles scored a goal and assisted Emily Garcia in finding the back of the net. Natalie Saintil made two saves in net for the shutout.
Next, JPT will play Northeast High School on Monday, January 13. The girls will play at 4 p.m., and the boys will play at 6 p.m. CSHS will play Northeast High School starting at 4 p.m.
Coral Springs High School and J.P. Taravella competed in the Coral Spring Duals. The Colts finished in fourth place, going 8-2. Alex Hailey and J’Bier Romeus went undefeated for CSHS, while Jacob Rosen and Victor Dixon led the Trojans.
The Coral Springs Charter wrestling team went 1-1 this week in the District Duals, beating St. Andrews 42-36 and falling to Jupiter Christian 47-35. Despite not advancing in the duals, they traveled to New York for the River Hawk Round Robin Tournament and had Preston Lindsay take first. Andrew Ridge came in second, while Elijah Perez finished in fourth place. All three of these wrestlers took first in pool play.
All the high school teams in Coral Springs Schools will get set to face off against each other on January 22 at Coral Springs High School before the start of the postseason.
