After a successful fall sports season in Coral Springs, the winter season is officially underway, with four schools competing in basketball and soccer.
In soccer, the Coral Springs High School boys team is 3-2 this year following wins over Plantation, West Broward, and Monarch High School. The girl’s teams only won in their first game against South Plantation High School. They scored five goals in the victory but have been shut out in their last four games.
The Coral Glades boys soccer team is 5-3 this year. They began the season with a 4-1 win over North Broward Prep and then followed that up with a 4-2 victory over West Broward High School. The Jaguars dropped two straight before back-to-back wins against Coconut Creek and Coral Springs High School. Coral Glades split their last two games, losing to Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
The girls team had a wild win in their last game, beating Pompano Beach High School 4-3. They also beat Western and Coral Springs High School, outscoring their opponents 8-1 in those two games while settling for a 0-0 draw against South Broward High School.
After starting the season 0-4, the Coral Springs Charter boys’ soccer team won three straight before losing their last two. They won against Calvary Christian Academy, Somerset Academy Central, and South Florida Heat.
The girls’ team is 5-2-1 this year, winning against Pine Crest, Calvary Christian Academy, Key West, South Florida Heat, and Monarch High School. They have also scored 18 goals through their first eight games.
The J.P. Taravella boys soccer team beat McArthur High School 3-0 in their first game but then lost their next two against Western and Pompano Beach High School. The girls team is 3-2 and has a pair of 8-0 wins, along with a 4-1 win over Piper High School.
The basketball season has belonged to Coral Sprints High School. Their boys team is 2-0, including a win over J.P. Taravella this year. They also beat Charles W. Flanagan High School, while the girls team beat Coral Springs Charter in their first game 63-39.
CSC’s boys team opened their season on Monday, losing 46-42 against Ramson Everglades. The girls team beat South Broward High School in their first game before their loss against the Lady Colts.
The Coral Glades boys basketball team is 1-1, beating Plantation High School but losing to Calvary Christian Academy.
The girls team beat Plantation High School in their only game, while the J.P. Taravella boys team is 0-2. The girl’s team has yet to start their season.
