High School football in Coral Springs was officially underway, with several teams competing in the Kickoff Classic.
Coral Glades started with a win over Pompano Beach High School. The Jaguars were the top team in the city last season, beating Marjory Stoneman Douglas, J.P. Taravella, and Coral Springs High School. They will play their first regular-season game at Cooper City High School on August 22 at 7 p.m.
The Cowboys won 16-7 in their only meeting last year for one of their two victories. Coral Glades will then play South Plantation, Coral Springs High School, Stranahan, Hallandale, Spanish River, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Boca Raton, J.P. Taravella, and Nova High School this year.
Coral Springs High School played Somerset Academy on Friday and recorded a 24-12 win. The Colts had their lone victory last season against J.P. Taravella, as they will open the regular season on Friday, August 22, against Westminster Christian High School. The Warriors are coming off a season where they went 2-8, while the Colts will play Nova, Coral Glades, South Plantation, Piper, Cypress Bay, Monarch, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Fort Lauderdale, and J.P. Taravella this season.
Coral Springs Charter lost 56-0 against American Heritage High School. The Panthers went 4-6 a season ago, beating Pompano Beach, Northeast, J.P. Taravella, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
They will play their first regular-season game at Pine Crest School on Thursday, August 21, at 7 p.m. The Eagles won three games a season ago, and this year, they will also play Pembroke Pines Charter, Neumann, Pompano Beach, J.P. Taravella, Northeast, Traditions Prep, North Broward Prep, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
J.P. Taravella will play their first game this week, as their last win occurred on September 7, 2023. They will face Hollywood Hills High School in their first regular-season game on Friday, August 22, at 4 p.m. The Spartans had one of their five wins last year against JPT, shutting them out 40-0.
The Trojans will play the rest of their games this year against Hollywood Hills, Northeast, Pompano Beach, Everglades, Western, Coral Springs Charter, Cypress Bay, Coral Glades, Goleman, and Coral Springs High School.
